Puppy Care
Caring for a new puppy is not always as easy as it sounds. They really are like newborn infants in many ways. If you mistreat them when they are young, just like humans, you can scar them for life. This is why it is so important to learn how to care for a puppy in a loving but firm way. You must gently let them know what is right and what is wrong. Positive reinforcement always is the best way to train a new puppy.
Be aware that many breeds have their own pecularities. Some are shy, some are very sensitive. Again, like kids, what works for one breed may not work at all for another breed of puppy. Puppy care is about common sense, and having the sense to be able to tell what your new puppies basic tendencies and temperament is. Then, once you have figured this out, work within those guidelines.
A kind and patient manner can go a long ways to speed the training and care of a new puppy. Even when you are trying to help the puppy, they are not always going to understand your intentions. Be aware of this and be prepared to be extra patient whenever you are trying to introduce a new behavior to your puppy.
Another pet care tip is to make sure that you practice some of the manuevers with your dog that a veterinarian will do when they examine them. This can get a puppy used to be handling. This comes in especially handy if your puppy isn't feeling well. This will give the vet the opportunity to do a thorough examination to find out what might ail your new puppy.
This may all sound daunting, but I am sure that you will get it in short order. It is really about repetition, patience, kindness, and letting the dog know who is the leader of the pack.
